About

Jessica Sassoon

Welcome! I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. My goal is to help you live a more fulfilling and satisfying life. One of my greatest pleasures is working with people from different backgrounds and cultures.

I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia and raised in Singapore– places that are far removed from the busy streets of Los Angeles. In my early 20’s, I traveled to Australia, Israel, Germany, and many other places. My experience and education have fostered a deep understanding and ability to respond to and respect a culture that is different than my own.

I provide culturally sensitive therapy in which I am able to accommodate the differences in experiences, values, and attitudes of my clients.  My respect and understanding allow me to first recognize the importance of culture and how it impacts my relationship with my client. With this approach, I am able to provide a safe space in which we can build a trusting therapeutic relationship.

I specialize in depression, anxiety, and trauma, stress, grief, low self-esteem, and relationship issues.  When we meet, I will create a customized plan that will help you find and develop your own inner strength. Together we will explore how you can live life more deeply and authentically.

Please do not hesitate to contact me, I  look forward to working with you. verified by Psychology Today

For therapy to be effective, it is important to find a therapist who will understand your personal history. Your past, gender, ethnicity, religion, and financial status all affect your personal development and daily interactions. As someone who has lived outside of the United States, I can understand how each person’s cultural background influences their unique emotional needs and complexities. This sensitivity enables me to more effectively help my clients.
